Isle of Wight Pubwatch

How Does the Isle of Wight Pubwatch Work?

How Does the Isle of Wight Pubwatch Work?Isle of Wight Pubwatch is a local initiative to which the police give strong support. It involves landlords being able to keep in touch on this website.

It will give landlords access to photos of known offenders and will let them report incidents to the police at the touch of a button. Many pubs have been members of the existing Pubwatch scheme for years, but it has only had a limited effect, as it often means landlords must call police for information about offenders.

There are currently eight Pubwatch schemes on the Island, and offenders often play the system by being banned from one scheme, only to go and cause havoc in a different area.

This new scheme aims to unify all pubs in the area, from Ventnor to Cowes, to send a zero-tolerance message to offenders.

Through co-operation between licensees and the police a safer drinking environment is achieved. Troublemakers are deterred, assaults on staff and customers are reduced, as is damage to property, resulting in peace of mind for the customer.

This site will also promote and improve existing relations between licensed premises and the police, resulting in swift assistance when required.
